Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport guide
How to Get from Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport to Jeddah
The most direct way to get from Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport to Jeddah is by road, using a taxi, a ride-hailing app or a private car booked in advance. Journey times depend on the time of day and traffic on the main roads into the city, so allow extra time during busy periods. The exact fare for a private transfer is shown before you book.
Your main options from JED are:
- Official airport taxis at the taxi area outside the arrivals hall, where you agree the destination and fare before you set off.
- Ride-hailing apps, which are widely used across Jeddah. Check the designated pick-up point at the airport, as it can differ from the taxi rank.
- Private transfers, booked in advance, where the fare is set when you book and the driver is waiting for you on arrival.
- Hotel or rental car pick-up, if your accommodation or car hire company has arranged it. Confirm the meeting point with them before you land.

Arriving in Jeddah: What to Know
Jeddah is a busy port city on the Red Sea coast and a common stop for travellers heading to Makkah and Madinah. The weekend in Saudi Arabia falls on Friday and Saturday, and shops and services may slow down around prayer times. The climate is hot and humid for much of the year, so plan your arrival, especially with luggage, for the cooler parts of the day where you can.
Dress modestly in public places and check current local guidance before your visit. Saudi riyals are the local currency, and card payment is widely accepted in larger businesses. The historic Al-Balad district is one of the city's most visited areas and is worth exploring once you have settled in.
